NCDUK2016 Core Partners
The Childhood Trust - http://www.childhoodtrust.org.uk is a charity with a single mission to alleviate the impact of child poverty. We do this by fundraising and working with selected charity partners using digital fundraising platforms such as www.thebiggive.org.uk. By match-funding digital campaigns such as Summer Give, we enable small charities to acquire the skills to attract donations online. The public are incentivised to give during two online giving days because their donations will be doubled and gift aid added too, meaning a £20 donation becomes £45 to the charity project. In 2015, our first Summer Give raised over £0.5M for 18 projects running holiday provision schemes benefitting 3,718 children. To coincide with #NCD2016 our Summer Give will open at midday on May 16th when all public donations made will be doubled to the participating projects until midday on May 18th.
Childhood poverty has deep and long-standing implications. Children who suffer from poverty and deprivation are more likely to experience poor health and shorter life expectancy. They are also likely to have a higher incidence of learning difficulties, truancy, exclusion from school, anti-social behaviour, drug abuse and teenage pregnancy. School holidays present an additional challenge to families when the structure, supervision and meals provided at school are no longer there.

The 1001 Critical Days Cross-Party Manifesto was founded by Andrea Leadsom, Member of Parliament for South Northamptonshire to bring together for the first time politicians from across the political spectrum to acknowledge the importance of the 1001 critical days from when a baby is conceived until the age of two. It has support from Sally Davies, Chief Medical Officer, Royal Colleges and over 100 leading child and family, health, education and social care organisations from across the UK.
PIP UK's task is to set up and support specialised services in local communities for families where there is a risk that the relationship between the baby and parents might be seriously compromised, for whatever reason. Intervention is offered from pregnancy until the child is aged two, the period of greatest neuroplasticity in the developing brain and when the foundations for the future personality are being laid down. A PIP multidisciplinary team provides a range of evidence-based therapeutic interventions that can promote positive interactions within the infant-parent relationship. Perinatal mental ill-health, substance misuse, past maltreatment, domestic violence, poverty and birth trauma are just a few of the significant risk factors that can have a negative impact on the caregiving relationship and so increase the risk of a very insecure attachment developing. Such risks may fill the mind of a caregiver, regardless of social position, and get in the way of forming a healthy, sensitive and joyful relationship with their baby.

www.headspace.com Founded in 2010 by Rich Pierson and Andy Puddicombe, Headspace was created to improve the health and happiness of the world. The Headspace app, which has over 6 million users in more than 190 countries, features the voice of Andy Puddicombe, a former Buddhist monk. Each day, it delivers a new guided meditation based on teachings that Puddicombe learned during the ten years he spent studying meditation and mindfulness in monasteries across Asia. Along with daily meditations, Headspace also offers On-The-Go exercises for users short on time and SOS sessions to support subscribers in those meltdown moments.
To help fulfil their mission of improving the health and happiness of the world, Headspace’s Get Some / Give Some program donates free Headspace subscriptions to nonprofit partners. For every subscription they sell, they make a second available to their partners. In honour of NCDUK2016, they’ll provide free subscriptions to the staff, volunteers and beneficiaries of nominated charities that work with sick, bereaved and disadvantaged children.

AIMH UK - http://www.aimh.org.uk/index.php The Association for Infant Mental Health (UK) was set up as a multidisciplinary organisation specifically to highlight the importance of the parent-infant relationship in the early years, and to support, promote and share the latest research and evidence about what works in practice with practitioners who come into contact with families with young children. The organisation is particularly interested in promoting evidence-based practice in both policy and practice. Members of the Executive are therefore active in influencing government ministers and policy, whilst others share their clinical skills with a wider audience through our clinical workshop series/conferences.
Specifically AIMH UK helps to: promote evidence-based practice through encouraging close links between clinical workers and researchers; disseminate knowledge about the mental and emotional health of infants and young children through strategic discussions, workshops, conferences and our website; provide information and sometimes direct support, to those campaigning for recognition and resources to meet the mental health needs of young children and their families.

www.humanvaluesfoundation.com
The main object of the Human Values Foundation, a non-denominational charity established in 1995, is the advancement of education in primary and secondary phases of schooling by supporting teachers and helping them to meet the needs of children and adolescents throughout the UK and beyond so that their learners can grow and develop into happy, fulfilled individuals who make positive contributions to society.
We fulfill our mission by providing VALUES EDUCATION teaching materials principally for ages 4 to 14 and by informing and actively engaging with educationalists and other stakeholders so that in conjunction with parents and carers, young children and teenagers can learn to use values to good effect during their formative years, thereby enhancing their wellbeing, competences and life chances. This work not only helps young citizens-in-the-making, because of incremental improvements in their social and emotional skills, thinking processes, decision making, behaviour patterns and achievements but also parents and carers, who also gradually become better able to understand the empowering effects of values and consequently develop more informed, supportive relationships with their children and their schools.

www.mellowparenting.org
Mellow Parenting is a Scottish based Charity that exists to promote and nurture healthy parent-child relationships. Our vision is to realise the best possible parent-child relationships from generation to generation. We research, develop and implement evidence based parenting programmes from the antenatal phase up to age 3.
Based on up to date research, Mellow programmes address gaps in current service provision and which help to address social and health inequalities. The underpinning values are based on the psychological theories of attachment, social learning and cognitive behavioural therapy and focus on improving parent-child relationships. We believe in early intervention and in the importance of attuned parenting in the early stages of child development.
Mellow Programmes are targeted at those families who have significant problems. These include parents with substance abuse, mental health issues, low self-esteem, domestic violence or poor relationships. We deliver training and then work with agencies in their local area to support them to deliver Mellow Programmes effectively and efficiently, working towards improving outcomes for parents and their children.
Mellow Programmes have been awarded the DfE CANparent Quality Mark.

www.5x5x5creativity.org.uk
5x5x5=creativity is inspired by the celebrated Reggio Emilia educational approach in Northern Italy that respects children and young people as strong, capable protagonists in their own learning. It recognises children’s innate inquisitiveness, and affords them the space, time and individual adult attention to explore and learn from the world around them.
This child-informed approach is distinguished by a unique commitment to the role of documentation and research in learning and teaching – and by the participating adults’ role as companions, not leaders, of the children and young people.
Our research findings clearly demonstrate the value of fostering creative enquiry by empowering children and young people to take the lead. 5x5x5 participants enjoy an extraordinary, exhilarating journey through which they explore the world around them and discover the joys of proactive learning. They emerge notably more confident, with enhanced self-esteem – better able to engage, express themselves and problem-solve.
Established in 2000, 5x5x5=creativity has become nationally recognised as a long-term research project of vitality and innovation. We are keen to use our research findings to contribute to an international, critical debate about education in a social democracy, and ultimately to build an educational culture that can change lives.
